Almighty Lord, Thy Praise We Sing

Almighty Lord, Thy praise we sing;
Thee we confess our God and King;
The whole wide world doth worship Thee,
Father from all eternity;
Angelic hosts praise Thee on high,
With all the powers of earth and sky:
To Thee, with never-ending lay,
The Cherubs and the Seraphs say:
“Holy, all holy is the Lord,
Our God for evermore adored!”

Thee, Son Eternal, Christ we bless,
Thee King of Glory we confess;
Thou to deliver man from doom,
Didst not abhor the Virgin’s womb;
The sting of death by Thee o’ercame,
Reopened heaven to Christendom;
Thou sittest in the heavenly land,
At God the Father’s own right hand.
Holy, all holy art Thou, Lord,
Our God for evermore adored!

Eternal praise, with heaven’s host,
Give we to God the Holy Ghost,
Who works unseen as Lord of Grace,
Making our souls His dwelling-place;
Who with the Father and the Son
Is equal God and truly one;
The Spirit Who from Both proceeds,
Who quickens holy thoughts and deeds.
Holy, all holy is the Lord,
Our God for evermore adored!

John G. Hacker, Catholic Hymnal (New York: Schwartz, Kirwin & Fauss, 1920).
